About 'eastern connecticut state university mascot'|Swimming off into the Midnight Sun….








Connecticut               is               the               state               where               I               grew               up.

Danbury               was               the               big               city               that               was               where               I               lived               and               there               are               so               many               things               to               do               in               Connecticut               when               you're               visiting;               it's               tough               to               narrow               it               down.

However,               for               the               erstwhile               Connecticut               traveler               who               wants               to               do               some               non-touristy               tourist               things,               you               should               try               the               following               for               your               Connecticut               adventures.

Greenwich:               If               you're               coming               up               from               the               south,               one               should               definitely               make               occasion               to               stop               into               the               Tony               town               of               Greenwich.

Greenwich               is               a               lovely               place               to               spend               a               whole               day               with               beaches               on               the               Long               Island               Sound,               a               golf               course,               symphony               orchestra,               and               a               museum.

But               for               my               bottom               dollar,               I               just               like               to               go               to               Greenwich               and               do               what               I               do               in               Bel-Air;               sigh               at               how               the               rich               people               live.
               Danbury               Fair               Mall:               Up               Rte               7               a               ways               in               my               old               hometown               of               Danbury               is               the               Danbury               Fair               Mall.

It               once               was               my               innocence;               it               has               become               what               it               has               become.

The               Danbury               Fair               Mall               is               a               pretty               large               spectacle.

Come               early               any               morning               and               you'll               find               my               old               Psychology               teacher               in               his               running               suit,               doing               his               laps               of               the               main               mall               area.
               Candlewood               Lake               (Hayestown               Ave               Danbury               CT               06811):               Also               in               Danbury               is               Candlewood               Lake.

It's               a               manmade               lake               and               it's               got               you're               a               small               beach.

If               you               have               a               boat               or               a               jet-ski               you               can               back               it               in               from               the               ramp               along               the               side               of               Hayestown               Ave               and               take               a               spin               out               on               the               peaceful               water.

203-744-4504.)               Just               up               the               road               from               Candlewood               Lake,               in               the               shadow               of               the               once               prominent               Eastcoast               Music               Mall,               lays               Duck               Pin               Lanes               of               Danbury.

A               small               ball               bowling               lanes,               Duck               Pin               is               still               fun               for               everyone.

Watch               out               though               if               you're               going               through               the               area               on               a               Saturday               or               Sunday;               birthday               parties               abound               here               and               can               make               getting               to               where               you're               going,               tough.

203-790-8030)               Step               lively               from               Duck               Pin               and               head               on               down               the               road               to               Stew               Leonard's.

Once               known               as               "The               World's               Largest               Dairy               Store"               (it               may               still               be)               Stew's               is               a               great               place               to               shop,               karaoke,               take               samples               from,               laugh,               and               play.

Stew               Leonard's               also               has               a               prominent               salad               bar               which               serves               up               some               of               the               tastiest               food               around.

Located               just               one               town               over               in               Bethel,               Blue               Jay               Orchards               has               a               whole               bunch               of               tasty               reasons               to               eat               fresh.

203-797-4881):               When               you're               out               and               about               in               Danbury               you               may               wish               to               stop               in               to               Rogers               Park               War               Memorial.

As               a               cultural               hub,               the               War               Memorial               has               been               around               since               1951               to               serve               the               public               interest.

As               their               slogan               says;               "To               Honor               the               Dead,               To               Serve               the               Living."               Such               a               credo               could               not               be               more               apt.

At               "The               War"               as               locals               like               to               call               it,               you               can               use               the               fitness               center,               track,               tennis               courts,               or               play               a               pickup               game               of               basketball.

There               are               also               special               events               which               are               hosted               at               the               War               Memorial               during               the               year               so               check               it               out               and               see               what's               going               on               when               you're               in               Connecticut.
               Mohegan               Sun               Casino               (1               Mohegan               Sun               Blvd               Uncasville               CT):               One               of               the               two               popular               casinos               in               Connecticut               stakes               its               claim               on               Native               American               land               (amazing               that               gambling               is               "illegal"               except               on               "native               lands")               is               Mohegan               Sun.

Both               Mohegan               Sun               and               Foxwoods               are               towards               the               eastern               end               of               the               Connecticut               coast               and               both               have               a               bunch               of               fun               stuff               for               people               to               do.

table               games,               slots,               restaurants,               and               shows               are               just               some               of               the               fun               things               you               can               do               at               Mohegan               Sun.

If               your               vacation               in               Connecticut               is               based               anywhere               else               (Danbury               is               in               Fairfield               County               along               the               western               edge               of               the               state)               you               can               pretty               well               get               to               Mohegan               or               Foxwoods               in               an               hour               or               so               if               you're               traveling               near               off-peak               traffic.

Though               some               may               consider               a               casino               kind               of               touristy,               the               fact               is               you               can               go               through               here;               not               spend               any               money,               and               still               have               a               great               time!

203-432-2700.):               On               your               way               back               to               Danbury               from               your               amazing               winnings               the               night               before               at               Mohegan               Sun               Casino,               stop               on               in               to               New               Haven               and               see               the               wonderful               history               of               Yale               University.

Yale               offers               guided               tours               seven               days               a               week               and               you               can               stop               into               the               Mead               Visitor               Center               (149               Elm               Street               -               also               7               days               a               week)               to               learn               more               about               this               storied               institution.
               Kent               Falls               (Rte               7               North               5               mi               North               of               Kent               Town               Center):               I               would               be               remiss               not               to               step               out               into               nature               in               Connecticut.

If               you're               looking               for               a               wonderful               hiking               spot,               Kent               Falls               in               Connecticut               is               a               great               place               to               go.

A               state               park               with               wonderful               hiking               trails               and               a               waterfall               (it's               in               the               name)               Kent               Falls               is               a               great               spot.
               With               so               much               to               see               and               so               much               to               do,               Connecticut               has               got               to               be               a               much               longer               trip.

Who               knows?
